Today’s Web Laureate Classic Insight into last Sunday’s poem…

Microsoft: HorizonS (P1)

No

Not too long after Vista (=Horizon) came out people began looking beyond… with its new slowness and driver incompatibilities… would this part 1 (P1) , mark the first chapter in the novel of the end?

More

Uncertainty ruled the day, would it be the SP1 (=S (P1) ) the corrected the operating system or some other web-based OS that finally changed it all?

Perhaps over the horizon,

Today’s Web Laureate Classic Insight into last Friday’s poem…

Microsoft: Bye Bye Bill

changes

come and go. frustrations ebb and flow.

in a time (right now) when it appears that new vigor may be emerging deep in the belly of microsoft, windows mobile 7 and project natal, perhaps the precursors, it is most fascinating, and perhaps even timely, to now look back to 2008, when frustrations and new revelations were all around.

when the "I’m a mac; I’m a pc" ads were most ‘in’ and the ‘thing,’ it was not too long ago that the news all abuzz the departure of bill gates it was. and out if it all came something most…

(are) fascinating.

not only have from noobs to gurus through the years been perplexed, complained, screamed, as they abandoned microsoft for the ‘apple train,’ but so too it was found that mr. gates, and was so revealed, a ‘new side,’ one shared with each and all, of frustration with the seemingly immovable heft that microsoft has/had become

Recently, we have seen a new side,
One which we did not know was inside.
For years we screamed and complained,
Felt ignored, and many joined the Apple train.
The products just kept getting bigger,
Demanding more from us, and each computer.
There was a lot of blame going around,
Whose fault was it for losing this ground,
Bill and Microsoft said to be evil,
With size and heft huge, unmovable.
At least now we know, perhaps a small consolation,
That even you Bill, by Microsoft, was filled with frustration.

Today’s Web Laureate Classic Insight into last Thursday’s poem…

44.6B

once —

there once was a time when microsoft and yahoo working together was both exciting and controversial. the thought of it generated a ton of speculation online. and yahoo was / is in shambles, Terry Semel on Yahoo’s board, left.

— again

the proposed purchase price from steve balmer of microsoft to yahoo was $44.6B. an amount we never expect to see expressed between the twain again. with the future year’s earnings at the time, and since then, looking bleak, weak.

Four more quarters – the future year, abhorred
Point by point, product by product –
transparent Steve offers an amount that only Microsoft can afford
6 new opinions for every two other –
transparentTo the blogosphere and media they poured
Billions of eyeballs, perhaps the sought prize –
transparentAnd the end of the day. Each one hoping to not be ignored.
